Fawaz Jaber - Great Syrian Director

Wednesday, 14 of January , 2009 at 7:14 am

Fawaz Jaber is my favourite Syrian director ever!
He directed many Syrian TV ads with a unique touch that you can’t miss.  He worked with many Lebanese models as Nicole Bardawil, Nicole Ballane, Haifa Wehbe, Katia Kahdi, Rania Sabeh and others. He also directed a video clip for Assi Halani and many many others.

Almost all his ads are musicals, with sometimes ripped tunes from famous artists. check out these sample ads:

Someone has been going around Hamra with a can of spray paint and a stencil of Oum Koulthoum saying ‘Boos el wawa’.  How cool is that?

Banksy - Famously Anonymous Street Graffiti Artist

Monday, 29 of December , 2008 at 9:29 am

balloongirl_alwayshope

Banksy is a famously anonymous street graffiti artist. He has created work around the world with messages ranging from subversive to downright silly but little is known for sure about his background.  The graffiti artist, whose work has fetched millions of dollars at auction houses from the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has never been publicly identified.

Banksy’s art is frequently political, often funny and always outré. He has fashioned a replica of Stonehenge out of portable toilets, spray-painted animals and released an inflatable Guantanamo Bay prisoner doll at Disneyland. He has portrayed Queen Elizabeth II as a chimpanzee, rebranded Warhol’s iconic Campbell Soup can with a Tesco Value logo, and scrawled “Mind the Crap” on the steps of the Tate Britain museum. He also made trip to the Palestinian territories, where he has created nine of his images on Israel’s highly controversial West Bank barrier.

Banksy’s talents aren’t limited to paint and the occasional pencil drawing. He has been responsible for a number of social commentaries involving replacing hundreds of Paris Hilton CDs with CDs of his own creation. He has sneaked his own work into several art museums, including a prehistoric-looking piece at the British Museum which the museum decided to add to their own permanent collection.
